Building a bridge to Self-Sufficiency
A place that provides emergency shelter for homeless women with children, and transitional housing for families that has experienced hardships in their lives. Our programs are designed to benefit every aspect of work and family life, from education and employment to parenting and planning ahead. Our current programs include:
Sheltering of women and children at one time, including a bedroom for each family, long length of time to stay and all at no cost to the resident
Case management for women and children
Adult educational resources
Children’s educational and cultural enrichment programs
Life skills training
Resource assistance, including
Safe Harbor Support & Men’s Shelter Program
Safe Harbor is a outreach support and referral program for men and women that are challenged with drug and alcohol addictions.
It is designed for those that have completed a Rehab Program.
It is NOT a Treatment Center.
Safe Harbor is a place for support and referrals to assist men and women
in re-establishing their lives and completing a process, which guides them into stable living.
Safe Harbor Men’s Shelter is a place with limited space reserved for men that are a part of the Safe Harbor Support Program.
This and That Thrift Store
This and That Thrift Store is a source of needed funds for the House of Refuge Women’s Shelter. Organizations, businesses, and individuals donated useable items such as clothing, furniture, appliances, and automobiles. The store is an all-volunteer operation.

Mobile Food Bank
Our Mobile Food Bank Program purpose to collect and distribute food to those at risk ensuring they have access to nutritious food and are treated with dignity, respect and compassion. The Mobile Food Bank will be an exemplary steward of the resources entrusted to us and serve our region with compassion and integrity.We will be committed to our responsibility to collect and distribute food to those at risk ensuring they have access to nutritious food and are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
